ARSENAL: WILSHERE REACTS TO PLAYER EXIT
Former Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere has reacted to the exit ofgoalkeeper DejanIliev who left the Gunners earlier this week. Iliev left Arsenal by mutual consent and he thereafter penned an emotional farewell on his social media accounts.
26-year-old Iliev has been on the Arsenal payroll since joining the North London club over nine years ago. The shot stopper signed for Arsenal from FK Belasica in North Macedonia. He joined the club as a teenage goalkeeper while legendary manager Arsene Wenger was still in charge of the team.
Former Macedonia u-21 national team shot stopper Iliev has been on loan at SFK Sered in the Slovakian top flight this season. He joined SFK Sered on loan from Arsenal at the start of the current season, but the loan deal has been terminated as confirmed by the official Arsenal website.
Despite spending almost a decade at Arsenal, Iliev didn’t play a single game for the club in the Premier League. However, he was part of the Gunners squad for the cup competitions without playing at all. The Macedonian star didn’t feature for Arsenal first team at all, but he was part of the squad for the Carabao Cup and UEFA Europa League on several occasions.
While he was with the Gunners, Macedonian goal minder Iliev was sent to SKF Sered in Slovakia on two occasions including this season as mentioned earlier. He has also been at Shrewsbury Town in the English Football League (EFL) and Jagiellonia Bialystok as an Arsenal loanee. Iliev was a regular of the Arsenal u-23 setup during his time in North London.
